UTEP’s Women’s and Gender Studies program will virtually host its 11th annual Women’s and Gender Studies History Month conference March 9–10, despite the current technological issues the university is facing.
The Women’s and Gender Studies program, in partnership with Ignite UTEP, has invited faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, activists, scholars, artists, and community organizations in all fields to submit presentations related to women’s issues at a local and national level.
Presentation formats will include 10–12-minute pre-recorded individual video presentations or pre-recorded 60-minute sessions of 3-4 presenters, including live bilingual presentations and panel discussions. There will also be visual art, dance, music and poetry presentations.
As of March 8, UTEP continues to experience delays on its network, following an unauthorized intrusion that forced the university to turn off all its systems. UTEP faculty, staff and students have not had complete access to operational systems including email, phones and websites.
To be able to attend the conference for both days, individuals must first register using a non-UTEP email to receive the zoom link. According to event officials, people using their UTEP email will not receive the registration confirmation or the zoom link to join the conference.
