UTEP falls a point shy of victory against Middle Tennessee

An intense back and forth between UTEP men’s basketball (17-12, 7-9 Conference USA) and the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (20-9, 11-5 Conference USA) took place on March 1. The Miners were tough to the end but a tight crucial layup from the Blue Raiders would secure the opposing team’s win in the final seconds of the game.

The El Paso Museum of Art opened two new exhibits, “Tom Lea and Contemporaries” and “Judithe Hernández: Beyond Myself, Somewhere, I Wait for My Arrival” on Saturday, Feb. 15. Both exhibits show drastically different styles and narratives but still impact museum goers and collectors all the same.

Trump’s ‘Eradicating Anti-Christian Bias’ order will reexamine and reinstate Christian policy

President Donald Trump signed an executive order “Eradicating Anti-Christian Bias” on Feb. 6. This will implement a Task Force initiative to reexamine existing law that may now be deemed anti-Christian and reinstate Christian values into the USA.

A total of 222 fans were in attendance for the Valentine’s Day matchup between the UTEP Miners (4-2) and the Manhattan Jaspers (0-2). UTEP’s defense had Manhattan ground out the final two outs which resulted in a 9-6 victory over the Jaspers.

UTEP’s Theater Dance production, “Monomyth” takes the stage on Feb. 20 to show a display of the hero’s journey in everyday life and societal issues. Dancers use their own struggles to face a vulnerable role and leave an impact on the audience leading to self-reflection and an understanding that they are the hero of their own lives.

With President Donald Trump’s new mass deportation plans in effort to remove undocumented individuals in the United States, Trump has allowed for immigration enforcement officers to arrest migrants at safe locations such as schools and churches. With UTEP being home to a large majority of students who cross the border every day to attend classes, concerns grow over how this will affect some students.
