In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the NFL has partnered up with the American Cancer Society for Crucial Catch. Since 2009, the two organizations have paired up annually to raise funds in support for the fight against cancer, those currently battling cancer and the opportunity to honor cancer survivors. With grants to health centers nationwide and hundreds of thousands of cancer screenings, Crucial Catch has done its part.
For over ten years, the partnership has raised around $27 million to support treatment around the country. The funds have supported over a million people by providing men and women through cancer-related education, navigation and screening reminders. These methods are part of Crucial Catch’s mission to fight cancer through early detection and risk reduction.
According to the Crucial Catch impact, 429,800 breast cancer screenings were provided, 141,500 cervical cancer screenings, 3,100 lung cancer screenings and 83,400 colorectal cancer screenings. All these services added to a total of 657,800 cancer screenings provided to Americans across the nation.
With over half a million screenings, Crucial Catch has made their presence known in the battle against cancer. Through the help of grant health centers across the continental U.S. the partnership will help those in need of cancer related assistance in 28 cities from Atlanta to Washington D.C.
To raise awareness for cancer and the duo’s purpose, the NFL features a Crucial Catch game which features on-field and in-stadium details. Through this game and merchandise sold by the NFL, cancer awareness and the tools to detect it are being supported by Americans everywhere. That said, Crucial Catch is another that can help tackle cancer.
