The Rubin Center combined polaroids from famous artist Andy Warhol and local artists Beatrice Macias-Caballero and Julio Barrera to create the “Instant Exposure” exhibit which showcased July 14.
Warhol’s polaroids from the years 1975 to 1986 were showcased as he used these as sketches and chose a select few to format as silkscreen paintings.
UTEP student Julio Barrera focuses his work on telling the story of family relationships and death. He holds a master’s degree in creative writing from the Universidad Central. His collections “Spring Journal at Central,” “Segundo Barrio in Polaroids” and “My Own and Personal El Paso” are currently being showcased.
Beatrice Macias-Caballero works predominantly with polaroid and 35 mm photography. She completed her bachelor’s in photo communications at St. Edwards’ University in 2003 and her work is dedicated to the memory of her parents. Her collections “Black Series” and “White Series” are currently being showcased.
“Instant Exposure” will be showcased at the Rubin Center July 11 to August 19.
