UTEP Dance ranks supreme

The UTEP Dance team placed first at the National Dance Alliance (NDA) D1-A Spirit Rally National Championship Friday, April 7, 2023.

The team, who performs across various campus and athletic events, headed to Daytona, Florida. The team competed in the competition’s semifinals round Wednesday, April 5 and were allowed to continue the following day for the finals round.

Both performances clocked in at two minutes and twenty-six seconds. The performances can be viewed on Varsity TV through a premium subscription to the provider.

UTEP will be celebrating the new champions in a pep rally at noon, Thursday, April 13 at Centennial Plaza,.

Emmanuel Rivas Valenzuela is a senior majoring in multimedia journalism with a minor in political science and chicano studies. Rivas is the editor-in-chief at The Prospector and has worked as a sports editor, writing contributor and as a bilingual writer at Minero Magazine. Outside of Student Media, Rivas has interned for McClatchy as a copy editor, El Paso Matters and a news reporter and most recently at KERA in Dallas-Fort Worth as Radio and News Reporter.
