The UTEP softball team (10-13) fell to The University of Texas at San Antonio on March 11 at the Helen of Troy Softball Complex. Early on, the Roadrunners were able to grab an early 2-0 lead, then took a 9-1 lead later in this game and never looked back.
The losing pitcher was freshman Aalijah Alarcon, while the Roadrunner’s pitcher sophomore Alexa Williams helped picked up the win.
The Roadrunners early on in this contest took a commanding 3-0 lead in the second inning and took a 9-0 lead in the third inning.
The Miners responded with a score to cut down the Roadrunners lead to 9-1.
Junior pitcher Isabella Kelly came in as the relief for Alarcon and was able to slow the Roadrunners down the hot batters to keep the score at 9-1.
However, the Miners could not score anymore runs, so the game ended in the fifth inning, with the Roadrunners winning this contest.
UTSA held the Miners to no runs in the last two innings of the game.
UTEP can be seen back in action in their next game against Murray State University at 3p.m. on March. 17 at the Murray State Softball Field.
