Kanye West fans took to social media to express disappointment with rapper, after he continued to delay the release of his ninth studio album “Jesus is King.”
West originally announced on his website the release of the album for Friday, Sept. 27. Fans anxiously anticipated the album’s release the week before and made predictions of what West’s new album would bring to the table.
However, Sept. 27 came around and no album was released.
His wife, Kim Kardashian–West, turned to her Instagram story to explain the situation, “He’s dropping the album Sunday,” she wrote. “Just a few final tweaks to the mixes.”
She chimed in at a private event, where West previewed his album along with an accompanying film of the same name. West announced he would only make gospel music from then on, causing mixed emotions for some.
One fan came to West’s defense on turning to gospel music by writing, “If Kanye is just gonna make gospel music from here onward that will really be amazing, it’d be albums of John Legends “used to love you” and I definitely can’t complain with that.”

One user took to Twitter to criticize West’s decision by writing, “People so excited about Kanye gospel album forgetting this man has committed blasphemy multiple times. Everything he is doing right now doesn’t sit right with my spirit.”

No album was released once again Sunday, Sept. 29. In 2018, West teased that a new album titled “Yahndi,” would be released in September of that year, but a few months later he announced the project had been delayed indefinitely. The rapper’s inconsistency has become normal for some of his fans, while others feel it is in everyone’s best interest.
One fan wrote, “When you hear the Kanye album is dropping today but you know it’ll be delayed for the 88th time,” captioning a picture of a cartoon character opening his eyes and closing them again.

Another fan reacted to another tweet that said, “What if JOKER was never released. Like it just kept coming out ‘next Friday’ but never arrived and we had to keep doing this for years,” by writing, “Then it would be a Kanye album,”

Other fans came to the artist’s defense, “I really admire that Kanye doesn’t succumb to the pressures of millions to drop an album HE feels is unfinished. Anybody else would have caved. You can’t control the man.”

As fans continue to cope with the situation by tweeting their frustrations away, while others cope with it through Twitter memes, some speculate that the album will be released at West’s Sunday Service concert film “Jesus is King,” set to premiere Oct. 25.
