UTEP’s Student Engagement and Leadership Center is ready to welcome all new and returning Miners with a week of events, free swag and food for students to kick off the start of the fall semester.
From Monday to Thursday, the university will host different events at the Centennial Plaza from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m, according to a Student Engagement and Leadership Center press release.
Starting off the week, students will be able to receive Starbucks samples, play a variety of games hosted by Pepsi Recycling Roadster to learn more about recycling, take a picture in a gif booth and ride inflatable slides.
For the following two days, students will be taught about the different UTEP Edge experiences that are meant to help students develop skills and prepare them for leadership positions.
At the same time, free pancakes and UTEP Edge merchandise will be given out. On Thursday, the Student Government Association leaders will introduce themselves, explain what they do, answer questions related to their work and inform how they represent all UTEP students. Papas locas, corn in a cup and funnel cakes will be available for free. Students will also be able to participate in inflatable soccer, football and basketball challenges.

People across campus will welcome students, point them in the direction of their classes and inform them about the week’s activities from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Miner Mix and Mingle will let students learn and meet UTEP departments and student organizations, the tables will be set from Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Miner Welcome event is created with the end of not only welcoming returning and new students, but also helping them navigate their way into UTEP and take advantage of all the experiences that are offered.
