Just seven days prior to UTEP’s first football game against Houston Baptist, UTEP Athletics hosted Fan Day which included an open practice and an autograph session free of charge.
Fans were able to meet their favorite players in the Larry K. Durham Sports center in order to promote UTEP athletics.
Other teams from a variety of sports attended the event during the signing session such as the rifle team, women’s soccer and cross country so that fans could engage with all their favorite teams at UTEP.
Fans and children walked down a line as they met every player on the UTEP football team, engaging with them and asking questions, many as aspiring football players. Head Football Coach Dana Dimel met with the fans as well.
Players from all teams encouraged the children to follow their dreams of being college athletes as the kids went from player to player sharing their goals.
“I think that you (fans) should know that, in this life, you can do whatever you put your mind to if you work hard, have determination and don’t ever give up,” said Ty’reke James, junior, safety.
“We love y’all’s support and we are out there playing for you all,” said Kavika Johnson, senior, wide receiver.
The UTEP Season tickets are on sale now at the Brumbelow Building Room 109 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.UTEPMiners.com/tickets or by call-ing 915-747-6150
