Monster Jam returns for its annual play at UTEP for two, four-wheel excitement filled, days March 2 to 3, at the Sun Bowl Stadium.
The monster truck racing and mechanical competition involves more than 10 drivers and their trucks including Grave Digger driven by Adam Anderson and Monster Mutt Dalmatian driven by Candice Jolly.
Jolly has worked with Monster Jam for 13 years and is proud to be driving the Monster Mutt Dalmatian all over the world.
“I’ve been driving the same puppy,” Jolly said. “I’ve been in 22 different countries with Monster Jam, 35 different states in America, and will be driving in South Africa in April – first time ever – I will have driven in six different continents for Monster Jam”
Monster trucks are a way of life for the drivers and for Anderson it goes far before his 14-year driving career. In 1982 Anderson’s father worked at a farm where he created and named the Grave Digger and use it to show off his crazy driving style on the farm.
“That started in a field showing off for a few people and now here we are we’re going to be in front of almost 50,000 people showing off the Grave Digger,” Anderson said. “It’s super exciting.”
When it comes to experiences out on the track both drivers said they’re all crazy, as it is always an action filled event.
“It’s really hard to have just one crazy experience when your entire career is based off of crazy experiences,” Anderson said. “There certain memories you have in certain places and certain things you did there. I myself am a fan watching other competitors go.”
Monster Jam holds a Pit Party that provides access to attendees to the Monster Jam Trucks and their drivers where guests can take photos and autographs. The Monster Jam Pit Party will be March 2, from, 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monster Jam now has Pit Party Early Access Passes available for fans that purchase a ticket to the Saturday event allowing them early entry to the Pit Party from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
