Latin American boy band CNCO will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27 at the El Paso County Coliseum.
Five Latino males comprise CNCO and even its name alludes to the number of members in the group. The boys remain popular among young adults ages 17-22 years old, the age range of the members themselves.
In 2015, CNCO formed during the first season of Univision’s Simon Cowell-created, Latin American singing competition “La Banda” where the group surprised viewers by winning the competition.
From there, CNCO won a five-year recording contract with Sony Music Latin and released their debut single “Tan Fácil” (So Easy) which made top 25 on several Latin music charts. The group toured with Ricky Martin in 2016 as his opening act.
In August 2016 the group released its first album “Primera Cita” (First Date), produced by reggaeton rapper Wisin, and became an international hit.
The members are natives of different Latin American countries like Ecuador (Christopher Velez), Mexico (Joel Pimentel), Cuba (Erick Brian), Dominican Republic (Richard Camacho) and Puerto Rico (Zabdiel De Jesús) – which allowed them to expand the fan base even more.
Although CNCO remains a new group it was nominated for a Grammy as Best New Artist and has won various wards – Latin American Music Awards, Premios Juventud, Premios Tu Mundo, Latin Billboard Awards, Kids Choice Award, Teen Choice Award and one iHeartRadio Music Award.
CNCO fans, named CNCOwners, proved their love for the boy band in 2017. The group sold out 40 concerts in 15 different countries.
CNCO is currently touring for its second studio album, “CNCO.”
