UTEP women’s basketball head coach Kevin Baker announced the 2018-19 schedule on Thursday afternoon, with teams like New Mexico State, New Mexico and Arizona rounding out their non-conference schedule.
UTEP will begin its season on Oct. 27 against Western New Mexico, followed by St. Mary’s on Nov. 7, as exhibition games. Their first regular season game will come on Nov. 10, as the Miners take on Alcorn State.
“We are really excited about our upcoming season’s schedule,” Baker said. “Our non-conference schedule includes seven home games and six road games. This schedule will help us get prepared for a very demanding Conference USA format.”
They will play five-straight games at home and then travel from Dec. 5 to Jan. 17. They open up their Conference schedule at home against UAB on Jan. 17. C-USA games will run up until March 7, followed by the league’s tournament.
“We will play 14 games in a mirrored format opposite of the men’s Thursday/Saturday scheduling,” Baker said. “The final two contests are set in advance and are based on creating competitive match-ups with geographical constraints. The fans will love this idea as there will almost always be a home game going on in the Haskins Center every Thursday and Saturday.”
