UTEP senior guard and team captain, Omega Harris has earned one of the two final spots in Conference USA’s preseason team for men’s basketball, the league office announced Thursday morning.
Charlotte junior guard Jon Davis earned the final spot.
Harris led the Miners in scoring with 17 points per game and earned a spot on the All-C-USA Third Team in the 2016-17 season. He ranked second in C-USA in minutes (36.4), eighth in scoring, 10th in steals (1.3), 12th in free throw percentage (.787) and 14th in three-point field goal percentage (.377).
The Oklahoma native has recorded double-figures 29 times in 88 games played with 1,041 total points scored and had a 16-game double-figure scoring streak, the longest streak by a Miner in six years.
Harris and the Miners open exhibition play this Saturday (Oct. 28) at the Don Haskins Center against Sul Ross State at 1 p.m. and open the regular season against Louisiana College on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m.
