UTEP President Diana Natalicio was appointed to the board of The Holdsworth Center in Austin, Texas, as announced on Thursday, Jan. 19. The Holdsworth Center is dedicated to support and develop public school leaders with a goal to strengthen Texas’ education.
Charles Butt, who is also the chairman and CEO of H-E-B, founded the Holdsworth Center and pledged to invest more than $100 million in the center. The Holdsworth Center currently has 17 members on the board.
“I am honored to join this group of distinguished leaders who share a strong belief in the importance of public education as the foundation of our democracy,” Natalicio said in a press release. “Charles Butt’s major commitment toward the establishment of the Holdsworth Center underscores both his deep and sustained confidence in our public school system and the students it serves, and his determination to ensure excellence in the preparation of leadership that will be critical to its continued success.”
The center plans to work with schools across the state over five years to better help bring up future leaders in the education force.
