Tight end Hayden Plinke and linebacker Nick Usher will participate in the 2017 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in Carson, Calif., on Saturday, Jan. 21, on Fox Sports 1 at 2:15 p.m. MT.
The two players will be introduced to different NFL scouts and the event gives them a chance to show off their talents in front of the different professional team’s represenatives and be on national television.
Plinke led the school in most touchdown receptions by a tight end with eight on his part and also led the team with 38 receptions, eight touchdowns and ranked second for his 456 receiving yards. On the defensive side, Usher was recognized as a C-USA honorable mention for the 2016 season. He led the team with 8.0-41 tackles for losses, 5.5 sacks and five quarterback hurries. He was third on the team with 77 tackles (35 solo) and tied for eighth in the conference for 5.5 total sacks.
Both players, among other Miners, anticipate the 2017 NFL draft, which will be held on April 27.
