UTEP football standout running back Aaron Jones was added to the 80th-annual Maxwell Award watch list for the 2016 football season on Tuesday, July 6.
Jones missed the majority of the season last year after starting the first two games before a season-ending foot injury. He enters the season with 2,341 career rushing yards and 16 career rushing touchdowns. With two full seasons under his belt, he currently ranks eighth for UTEP’s all-time rushing list. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound junior will be the one of the main components for the squad this season.
Jones is one of six Conference USA players recognized on the watch list. The Maxwell Award, named after Robert W. “Tiny” Maxwell, is one of the nation’s top awards given to a top college football athlete.
