After giving up three runs in the top of the ninth and allowing Las Vegas to tie the game up at eight, the El Paso Chihuahuas walked off with the win in the bottom of the 10th.
With the score tied at eight, the bases loaded and one out on the board, Chihuahuas’ shortstop Ramiro Pena came to the plate with the duty of just putting the ball into play. Pena fouled off four straight pitches from 51’s pitcher Chase Bradford before hitting a fly ball into centerfield. The hit was good enough for El Paso’s Jake Goebbert, who was on third, to make the tag and come home.
The Dogs pick up their second win in as many games of the series and improve to 60-56 coming one game closer to the division leading 51’s. At 65-52, Las Vegas still holds a four-game lead over El Paso for the lone playoff spot in the PCL’s Pacific Southern Division.
Chihuahuas and 51’s will take the field once again tomorrow night at Southwest University with first pitch scheduled for 7:05.
