In Brief:
Fall Camp changes location: UTEP Football announced that their training camp for the upcoming 2015 season will take place in Ruidoso, NM. The decision was made after the team spent the past two years holding their annual pre-season camp in Alpine, Tx., on the Sul Ross University Campus.
“We are extremely excited as a program to be moving our training camp to Ruidoso and the Lodge,” said UTEP football head coach Sean Kugler. “They provide top-notched facilities and living conditions for our players to best get prepared for the 2015 season.”
The Miners will be in Ruidoso from August 5 through 16 and will open the season at home hosting the University of Arkansas.
Eric Lee recognized: Senior center Eric Lee was named to the Rimington Trophy Spring Watch List. The list consists of the 52 best players at that position in all of Division-I football. Lee will go into the 2015 season as a starter for the second consecutive year.
In 2014, he started in all 13 UTEP games and was a key piece in a Miner offensive line that allowed just 13 sacks.
Sun Bowl and Glory Field will get new turf: The playing surface on both UTEP football fields will be changed for the fall of 2015. The University announced that FieldTurf Classic HD CoolPlay will replace the six-year old turf of the Sun Bowl and the natural grass of Glory Field.
