UTEP’s never-ending construction has made it tough for students to commute around campus during the school year. There are too many detours due to construction and it now seems pointless to get around campus on a skateboard, bike, or scooter due to the crowds and small walking areas. Many students rely on the Miner Metro, UTEP’s shuttle system to get around campus. Due to the current construction.
Fortunately, students can now track where these shuttles are and what time they will arrive at each Miner Metro stop all through a simple app. Miner Metro Tracker is a web application for all mobile smartphones and can be accessed at utep.doublemap.com.
When you open the application, it displays a list of all the different UTEP shuttles. After selecting your preferred shuttle, you are provided with the shuttle’s route around campus. After this, you must select the Miner Metro stop in which you are located, and the app provides you with a time estimation of when it will arrive to pick you up (for example: the app will display a time estimation of “3-4 min”).
The Miner Metro web app is a very useful tool for all UTEP students who regularly use the shuttles to commute around campus. This application is extremely simple to use and get access to, as long as you have Internet data on your smartphone. If the app is successful in providing students with the correct timing of the metro wait times, it is sure to be a hit. With this application, more students will be able to make it to class on time and they will also know when to be ready for the next shuttle stop to get from point A to point B. Overall, this app is great and it is also very helpful. The Miner Metro app is up and running perfectly, just in time for the first day of school.
