More Awards for Rotich: Two-time 3,000-meter national champion Anthony Rotich was named Conference USA Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row. The junior seven time All-American won back-to-back national championships in the indoor and outdoor season for the Miners.
Rotich is the first Track and Field athlete in Division I history to win an indoor and outdoor national championship in the same season. Rotich was the third Miner to win program history to win back-to-back national championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
UTEP Tennis Adds Florida State Transfer: Women’s tennis head coach Myriam Sopel has added a third new player in the last two months with Florida State transfer Duda Santos.
Santos finished the 2013-14 season for the Seminoles with a 5-9 singles record and 8-9 doubles record at the fifth and sixth positions. Santos will join incoming freshman Jeannez Daniel and international transfer Valeriia Yanovska this coming fall.
All-Star game voting ballots now open: The 2014 Triple-A All-Star game in Durham, North Carolina voting window is now open. Fans can now vote in their favorite Chihuahuas for the 2014 season. Ballots are online at www.milb.com.
