On October 25th CBS aired an “Undercover Boss” episode that focused on the yogurt chain Menchies. The episode featured the East side Menchies location here in El Paso, which is located on 1355 George Dieter.
CEO and co-owner of Menchies Amit Kleinberger went undercover and traveled to 3 different Menchies establishments around the country.
Being one of the top-performing store in the state of Texas, El Paso was one of the three locations selected.
Vijai Vaswani, store leader of both Menchies locations in El Paso, shared his excitement about the episode airing on CBS.
“This is a celebration for El Paso and for Jenny, we are excited to just celebrate today and just spread as many smiles throughout El Paso as possible,” Vaswani said.
Jennifer Lutz works at the East side location, was featured on the October 25th episode.
“Out of the 350 stores, I was one of the lucky members to be picked,” Lutz said. “We are super excited we have a viewing no just for me and my family but for everyone to come out here to Menchies.”
Impressed by Lutz bubbly personality and work ethic, Kleinberger, chief executive officer of the Los Angeles-based chain with about 350 locations, rewarded her with 25,000 dollars to be used towards her education, along with giving her a letter of recommendation that helped her get transferred to a Dallas area store––where she plans to attend college. In addition, Kleinberger paid for an all-expense paid trip to Disneyland in California for Lutz and her family.
“This is a once in a life time opportunity, it’s like winning the lottery,” Lutz said. “I hope I make El Paso proud, because it is not just the bad things that you should hear about El Paso it should be the good things as well,” Lutz said.
As part of the entertainment, senior media advertising major and former X Factor contestant Isaac Tauaefa also performed at the viewing party.
“This is awesome, I love Menchies I am good friends with the owners and I have been coming here since the first week it was open,” Tauaefa said.
“I am happy for them it is their turn now. Vijay told me, ‘hey man we are going to be on TV now,’ so I thought I would come out and support them and play a little music for them too,” Tauaefa said.
